The Call to Worship
The worship of our church is intended to engage our hearts and minds in a way that draws our attention and awareness to God. In addition to allowing sufficient space for our growing congregation to worship, our new sanctuary will include a Narthex where there is space to venerate and light candles without being crowded, and an east-facing sanctuary with the space in the nave for sacraments and large celebrations. Our new church will inspire faith and encourage prayer. Built in the classic Byzantine Christian tradition, it will be a testament to our faith and heritage on the East End of Long Island and a glimpse of Heaven on Earth.
The Call to Knowledge
We are called to know Christ and to share our knowledge of Him. We are committed to celebrating our heritage. Programs such as Sunday School, the Greek Language and Culture Institute, the Zoullas Orthodox Retreat and Hellenic Lecture Series, and Bible Study allow us to increase our knowledge of the faith. Our youth, seniors, PTO and Philoptochos programs provide us with meaningful fellowship. Our new community center will allow our programs to grow. As we come to know and share Christ’s love, we will become more like Heaven on Earth.
The Call to Love
Christ instructed His disciples “A new command I give to you, that you love one another.”(John 13:34). At Kimisis Tis Theotokou, we are brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, grandfathers and grandmothers. We are family! When one of us is weak, he or she can draw strength from the church. When one of us is in need, there is abundance in the church. When one of us triumphs, the community celebrates. Building our new spiritual home will be a shared labor of sacrifice and love bringing us together in a common and sacred purpose. As we strive together our church family will reflect, a little more brightly, Heaven on Earth.
